NATURENA, SOUTH AFRICA — The relentless squad restructuring at Kaizer Chiefs has claimed its third major casualty of the off-season. Amakhosi have officially confirmed that versatile 28-year-old defender Happy Mashiane has left the club with immediate effect following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
Mashiane’s departure marks the end of a notable era. The Tembisa-born player originally joined the Amakhosi development academy as a teenager, rapidly rising through the ranks before earning his senior first-team promotion at the start of 2019.
Remembering the 2021 CAF Champions League Heroics
Primarily deployed as an energetic left-back with the tactical fluidity to push up onto the wing, Mashiane earned 4 first-team goals during his tenure at Naturena. Crucially, his name is etched into club history as an important squad member during the Glamour Boys’ unforgettable, historic run to the 2021 CAF Champions League Final in Morocco.
To help rediscover his form, the former South Africa Under-23 international spent the recent 2025/26 campaign on loan with Siwelele FC, gaining valuable first-team minutes before returning to Naturena to finalize his permanent exit.

Amakhosi Executive Suite Bids Farewell
In an official statement released by the club, Kaizer Chiefs expressed deep gratitude to their academy product:
“We sincerely thank Happy for his valuable contribution to Amakhosi and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Under the strict rebuilding directives of newly minted head coach Fernando Da Cruz, the clearing of Mashiane’s salary cap space signals that more high-profile incoming transfer business is imminent as Chiefs gear up for the grueling Betway Premiership and CAF Confederation Cup campaigns.
