Amidst a ruthless squad clear-out at Naturena, Kaizer Chiefs have moved swiftly to secure some crucial dressing room continuity. Reliable shot-stopper Bruce Bvuma has been rewarded with a new one-year contract extension, officially cementing his status as the longest-serving active player in the current Amakhosi squad.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper becomes the second player to commit his immediate future to the club this week, following right-back Dillan Solomons in signing a contract extension under incoming French tactician Fernando Da Cruz.
From Development Graduate to Dressing Room Anchor
Bvuma’s journey at Naturena is a masterclass in ultimate patience, loyalty, and high-level professionalism.
- The Journey: Born in Leratong, Gauteng, Bvuma rose directly through the Kaizer Chiefs development structures before making his official senior debut back in March 2017.
- The Ultimate Professional: Having spent large portions of his career playing second fiddle to club legends like Itumeleng Khune and later Brandon Petersen, Bvuma has consistently stepped up when called upon.
- Big Game Player: He remains highly regarded for his heroic shifts during injury crises, crucial saves in high-pressure cup fixtures, and his role in Amakhosi’s historic run to the CAF Champions League semi-finals.
With ten continuous seasons at the club now locked in, Bvuma’s deep institutional knowledge and leadership will be invaluable as Da Cruz formats a brand-new era for the Soweto giants.
