Kaizer Chiefs have officially agreed to a season-long loan deal with top-flight newcomers Kruger United for the services of goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari.
The 25-year-old Rwanda international was a notable absentee from Amakhosi’s pre-season traveling squad to Spain, with club management opting to send him out for guaranteed game time. The strategic move allows the Soweto giants to free up a critical foreign-player registration spot ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.
The Rise and Fall at Naturena
Ntwari arrived at Naturena in July 2024 on a heavily hyped four-year contract after a phenomenal debut season with TS Galaxy, where he kept nine clean sheets in 24 games. However, his dream move to the Glamour Boys quickly hit roadblocks:
- Form & Scrutiny: Early-season inconsistency put him under an immediate microscope from the demanding Khosi faithful.
- The Substitution Drama: His relationship with technical staff strained significantly following a controversial incident during the Carling Knockout tournament, where he reportedly refused a late tactical substitution.
- Injuries & Competition: A series of stubborn shoulder injuries, paired with the resurgent form of Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen, ultimately pushed him down the pecking order.
A Massive Scoop for Kruger United
For newly promoted Kruger United, landing an internationally capped shot-stopper is a massive statement of intent for their maiden top-flight season.
Ironically, Ntwari won’t have to wait long to see some familiar faces. Kruger United are scheduled to host Kaizer Chiefs at the Mbombela Stadium in a spicy Round 1 blockbuster on Saturday, 1 August. While loan terms often include clauses preventing players from facing their parent clubs, Ntwari’s inside knowledge of the Amakhosi setup will be an invaluable asset to his new coaches in the camp.
