STELLENBOSCH — The Winelands are buzzing. In a major squad-building blitz, Stellenbosch FC has officially confirmed the arrival of three key players to bolster their ranks ahead of the highly anticipated 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The Maroons have secured the services of former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou, Bafana Bafana left-back Terrence Mashego from Mamelodi Sundowns, and highly-rated young goalkeeper Nathan Garrow from New Zealand’s Auckland City.
These high-profile additions mark another massive chapter in what has been an incredibly busy transfer window for CEO Rob Benadie and his technical team.
Meet the New Signings: The Strategic Breakdown
Stellenbosch has targeted crucial depth across the pitch, adding championship pedigree, tactical versatility, and long-term potential:
| Player | Age | Position | Signed From | Deal Type |
| Terrence Mashego | 28 | Left-Back | Mamelodi Sundowns | Season-long Loan |
| George Matlou | 28 | Central Midfielder | Kaizer Chiefs | Free Transfer (Long-term) |
| Nathan Garrow | 22 | Goalkeeper | Auckland City (NZ) | Permanent Transfer |
Rob Benadie Welcomes the Trio
Speaking on the new arrivals, Stellies CEO Rob Benadie made no secret of his excitement regarding the quality added to the squad:
“George [Matlou] is a player we believe can add real value through his experience, technical ability, and understanding of the game. His pedigree speaks for itself… We are naturally pleased he chose to continue his career with us.”
On the capture of Terrence Mashego, Benadie added:
“Terrence is a player who has competed at the highest level on both the domestic and international stages. We believe he has the ability and quality to add significant value to our defensive structure.”
Addressing the arrival of New Zealand-born shot-stopper Nathan Garrow, Benadie highlighted his long-term promise:
“He is a talented young goalkeeper with outstanding potential… He will benefit from the opportunities for growth at our club while simultaneously helping to improve our goalkeeping department.”
Building a Title-Challenger in the Winelands
With these three transfers officially over the line, Stellies are sending a massive warning shot to the rest of the Betway Premiership. These signings join earlier marquee window captures, including Thabiso Lebitso from Orlando Pirates and midfield engine Sinoxolo Kwayiba.
If the club can also manage to successfully wrap up the ongoing, highly-publicized swap negotiations for Kaizer Chiefs’ Ashley du Preez, Steve Barker’s side looks fully primed to disrupt the traditional hierarchy of South African football this season.
