Mandela Day 2026: Oscar Mbo, Blue Mbombo & Moozlie Give Back to Children
Oscar Mbo, Blue Mbombo, and Moozlie dedicated their 67 minutes on Nelson Mandela Day to supporting childcare centres in Tembisa and Pretoria.

On Saturday, 18 July 2026, South Africa united to honor the legacy of Nelson Mandela by dedicating 67 minutes of public service—symbolizing the 67 years Madiba spent fighting for freedom and equality. Among those answering the call to active citizenship were prominent media figures Oscar Mbo, Blue Mbombo, and Moozlie, who each spearheaded community-driven initiatives focused on vulnerable children across Gauteng.

Oscar Mbo Foundation Partners with Leratong Edu-Care Centre

Sought-after DJ and producer Oscar Mbo spent his Mandela Day in Tembisa, Gauteng. Through the Oscar Mbo Foundation, in collaboration with PLK Savages Adventures and the Nelson Mandela Foundation, the artist visited the Leratong Edu-Care Centre to supply essential resources and spend quality time with the children.

Reflecting on the outreach, Oscar Mbo shared:

“Joined hands in unity, compassion, and active citizenship to spread love and give back to Leratong Edu-Care Centre in Tembisa, Gauteng… A day spent with the little ones, providing the current needs of the centre and contributing to a bright future in their development phase.”

Blue Mbombo & Metro FM Revamp Tshwane Place of Safety

In Pretoria, TV personality and model Blue Mbombo teamed up with Metro FM to support the Tshwane Place of Safety Association in Queenswood—a non-profit organization providing emergency shelter and care for abandoned, abused, orphaned, and sick toddlers.

Partnering with Signature Wall Coverings, the mother-of-one personally led the interior redesign of the girls’ rooms to create a warmer, more welcoming living environment.

“I wanted to do the girls’ rooms because obviously I’m a girl mom,” Blue shared in a video message. “Changing the girls’ rooms for me was more impactful because you’re not just changing a room—you’re giving them warmth and love.”

Moozlie & Gift of the Givers Join Forces

Rapper and TV presenter Moozlie also joined the Metro FM outreach team at the Tshwane Place of Safety alongside humanitarian organization Gift of the Givers.

Moozlie expressed her appreciation for the collaborative effort online:

“Spent the most beautiful day celebrating the spirit of Mandela Day at the Tshwane Place of Safety. A very special thanks to Metro FM, Gift of the Givers, Blue Mbombo, and all the incredible partners that made this day possible.”

By focusing their resources on early childhood development and child-care facilities, these public figures demonstrated how targeted, compassionate action continues to keep the spirit of Mandela Day alive.
