In a historic bridge between two iconic eras of South African sound, legendary house music duo Liquideep (Ziyon and Ryzor) have partnered with global pop superstar Tyla for a fresh interpretation of their 2009 timeless anthem, “Fairytale.”
The reimagined track is set to feature on Tyla’s highly anticipated sophomore album, APOP, dropping worldwide on Friday, 24 July 2026.
From 2009 House Anthem to Global Pop Canvas
First released nearly two decades ago, “Fairytale” established itself as one of the most beloved soul-house tracks in South African history. Now, as Tyla introduces her signature style to the classic, Liquideep’s vocal powerhouse Ziyon admitted the news took a moment to sink in.
Speaking to TRUE LOVE Magazine, Ziyon reflected on the significance of the moment:
“I didn’t believe it at first,” Ziyon shared. “It’s a full-circle moment, a big honor, and a wake-up call to the platform that we have. We can’t take this for granted. If the music was able to reach her in this way, it just affirms that we’re moving in the right direction.”
Liquideep Celebrates Sold-Out Live Shows
The announcement caps off a massive week for Liquideep, who are currently taking the stage for two intimate, sold-out live band performances at Johannesburg’s Untitled Basement on 22 and 23 July.
