Patience, persistence, and backing from executive leadership paid off in style for Luke Baartman! The 20-year-old attacker produced a sensational Man of the Match display on the left wing to help Kaizer Chiefs secure a 3-1 opening-weekend victory over Kruger United at Mbombela Stadium.
Having endured a difficult debut campaign in 2025/26 where he was restricted to just five appearances, Baartman revealed how continuous support from Amakhosi Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr kept his spirits high during the tough moments.

Speaking to SuperSport TV after receiving his Man of the Match accolade:
“Last season, because I didn’t get a lot of chances to play, he [Kaizer Motaung Jr] always messaged me when I wasn’t in the team to keep going, to keep my head up. That’s all.”
An emotional Baartman also dedicated his performance to his family and roots:
