Orlando Pirates have put six standout performers in front of the Buccaneers faithful, with fans now deciding who deserves to be crowned the club’s August 2026 Player of the Month.
Pirates have enjoyed an impressive opening to the 2026/27 campaign, and that strong start is reflected in the number of players who have made a case for individual recognition.
The club has opened voting for its August Player of the Month award, with Oswin Appollis, Sipho Chaine, Tshepang Moremi, Gamphani Lungu, Lebone Seema and Thapelo Mokobodi all shortlisted.
Six Pirates stars, one award
Each nominee has played a role in Pirates’ strong start, but their contributions have come in different ways.
Oswin Appollis has already found the net twice during the opening stages of the campaign while regularly creating opportunities for his teammates.
Between the posts, Sipho Chaine has provided a strong foundation for the Buccaneers, recording five clean sheets in his first seven appearances.
Tshepang Moremi has also made an early impression. The attacker has scored twice and registered an assist in four appearances, while creating nine chances for his teammates.
There has been an immediate impact from new signing Gamphani Lungu, who has scored three goals and provided one assist in six appearances.
At the back, Lebone Seema has added defensive strength while also contributing one goal and one assist.
Meanwhile, midfielder Thapelo Mokobodi has caught the eye with his performances and celebrated his first goal for the club.
Pirates off to flying start
The individual performances have helped Pirates make a strong start to their domestic campaign.
The Buccaneers collected 10 points from their opening four Betway Premiership matches, putting themselves among the early pace-setters.
They have also booked another appearance in the MTN8 final after dismantling Sekhukhune United 4-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
With six players making a case for the monthly award, Pirates supporters now have a difficult decision to make.
The final choice belongs to the fans, who can vote for their preferred candidate through the Orlando Pirates website.
