Kaizer Chiefs are preparing for their return to Betway Premiership action after the FIFA international break, with Stellenbosch FC currently next on the schedule.
The fixture is pencilled in for Saturday, 17 October 2026, at 15:30, but Amakhosi supporters may need to wait for confirmation because of the club’s CAF Confederation Cup commitments.
Chiefs set for Stellenbosch test
The meeting with Stellenbosch is scheduled to serve as Kaizer Chiefs’ eighth league match of the 2026/27 campaign.
Fernando Da Cruz’s side remain unbeaten in the league, having collected 13 points from seven matches through three victories and four draws.
Chiefs opened their campaign with a 3-1 win over Kruger United before following that up with a 2-0 victory against Sekhukhune United.
They then edged Siwelele FC 3-2, but their progress has since been slowed by a series of draws.
Four draws in their last five league games
Although Chiefs have avoided defeat in the Betway Premiership, they have shared the points in four of their last five league fixtures.
The run includes draws against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Richards Bay, Polokwane City and, most recently, Lamontville Golden Arrows.
The 0-0 result against Arrows extended their unbeaten league run, but the dropped points have allowed Sundowns to open up a seven-point lead at the top of the standings.
The Stellenbosch encounter therefore represents another opportunity for Da Cruz’s team to convert their solid start into more victories.
CAF Confederation Cup could affect fixture
There is one major complication surrounding the current date.
Chiefs are expected to face Zambia’s Red Arrows FC in the second qualifying round of the CAF Confederation Cup, creating a potential clash with the Stellenbosch fixture.
The PSL could consequently bring the league match forward, with Tuesday, 13 October reportedly being considered as an alternative.
However, no final change has been confirmed, meaning the original 17 October, 15:30 kick-off remains the date supporters should currently keep in mind.
Another important test for Da Cruz
The international break gives Chiefs time to prepare for what could be a significant period in their season.
With continental football also on the agenda, squad management and consistency will be important as Da Cruz attempts to keep Amakhosi competitive near the top of the Betway Premiership table.
For now, all eyes are on the official fixture announcement to determine whether Chiefs will face Stellenbosch on 13 or 17 October.
