Ex-Sundowns attacker Keletso Makgalwa admits Chiefs made a good offer but came too late. He chose Simba SC and says Amakhosi is still a dream.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker says Amakhosi tabled a good offer before he chose Simba SC, and that playing for Chiefs remains a childhood dream

Keletso Makgalwa has opened up on a move that nearly happened. The 29-year-old attacker, who now plays for Simba SC in Tanzania, has confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs were among the clubs chasing his signature.

Makgalwa caught the eye last season with nine assists in 34 competitive matches for Sekhukhune United, where he looked to be enjoying his football. Chiefs were tipped to land him, but Simba got there first.

“They came late”

Speaking to FARPost, Makgalwa said many local clubs came forward, and that Chiefs’ offer was a good one. He stressed he did not turn them down. He simply wanted to play outside South Africa, and timing worked against Amakhosi.

By his account, he spoke with his agent, Ntobatsi Masegela, and Kaizer Motaung Jr, but Chiefs were still busy finalising their squad when Simba made their move. That settled it.

The Chiefs dream lives on

Makgalwa says the door is not closed. Growing up in Mokopane, playing for Chiefs was a boyhood dream, and he said he would take the move if it comes. For now, his focus is on helping Simba win the league and make an impact in the CAF Champions League.

Should Chiefs have moved faster for Makgalwa? Tell us in the comments.
