Lucasraps has praised Nasty C after joining the latest Speed Run studio session, highlighting the creativity behind the project bringing SA rappers together.

Lucasraps has given Nasty C’s latest creative initiative a strong co-sign, praising the rapper after another intense edition of his Speed Run studio sessions.

The Durban-born rapper took to X to applaud Nasty C’s work, describing what he witnessed during the second day of the sessions as an impressive display of creativity.

“God bless @Nasty_CSA fr! What he done today was incredible.”

Lucasraps was among the artists involved in the latest studio session, with clips from the event circulating online and drawing attention from fans.

Nasty C’s Speed Run puts artists under pressure

The Speed Run concept challenges artists to create music within a limited amount of time.

Participants are given beats, develop their ideas, write and record their vocals against the clock, and ultimately produce demos that fans can help decide whether they should receive an official release.

The time pressure is a key part of the concept.

Instead of spending days refining a song, artists are encouraged to trust their instincts, experiment and capture ideas while they are still fresh.

That approach has created an energetic environment in the studio while giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at how songs can develop from an idea into a potential release.

Lucasraps makes an impression

Lucasraps’ participation in the latest Speed Run session added another Durban connection to the project.

His performance attracted attention online, with viewers highlighting his delivery and ability to work within the tight constraints of the format.

The chemistry between the participating artists has also become one of the biggest attractions of the sessions, as rappers from different backgrounds get the opportunity to share the same creative space.

Lucasraps and Nasty C have already crossed paths musically, having previously collaborated on tracks including “King Kai” and “The Views.”

His latest public praise therefore adds another layer to an established musical relationship between the two artists.

Speed Run brings different sides of SA hip-hop together

Nasty C’s studio concept has also created a platform for a wide range of South African artists.

Previous sessions have featured names such as Flvme, Tshego and Tellaman, while artists connected to the broader Speed Run lineup include The North Mob, Lowfeye, Wordz, Issi, LaCabra, Blue Pappi, Mashbeatz, Tony Dayimane, Kamo Mphela and Sir Trill.

Beyond simply recording music, the sessions have created an environment where artists can experiment outside their usual circles.

There is also a playful element to the concept, with participants taking part in challenges such as doing push-ups when someone slips up and swears in the studio.

Nasty C turns the studio into a shared experience

The Speed Run concept is partly inspired by Nasty C’s own experience of working under tight deadlines while creating music.

By bringing other artists into that environment and allowing fans to follow the process, he has transformed what would normally be a private studio session into a piece of interactive entertainment.

The public response suggests that the concept is connecting with both artists and listeners.

For Lucasraps, the latest session was clearly worth recognising — and his public praise adds to the growing conversation around what Nasty C is building through Speed Run.

With more artists getting involved, the big question is: Which South African rapper will make the next Speed Run session unforgettable?
