The Hollywoodbets Sharks are preparing for a tough United Rugby Championship (URC) encounter against Munster at Thomond Park in Limerick on Saturday night, with both teams eager to make a statement before the competition takes its December break.
Sharks coach JP Pietersen will be hoping his side can maintain their positive momentum and secure another important result on the road. The Durban-based team currently occupy fifth position on the URC log, while Munster sit ninth after a mixed opening to their campaign.
The Irish province have managed one victory and one draw from their opening four matches, alongside two defeats. However, their performances suggest they will be difficult opponents, having suffered no defeat by more than six points in the competition this season.
The Sharks, meanwhile, have enjoyed a stronger start, winning three of their URC fixtures. They also head into this encounter encouraged by a valuable away victory over LOU Rugby in the EPCR Challenge Cup.
Sharks looking to finish away campaign strongly
The Durban outfit have shown plenty of attacking ambition this season, with their powerful forward play and dangerous backline giving opponents plenty to think about.
They will be keen to bring that attacking energy to Thomond Park and collect valuable points before returning to home action when the URC resumes in December.
However, the visitors have been forced to make changes in midfield following injuries to regular centres André Esterhuizen and Jurenzo Julius.
Ethan Hooker moves from the left wing into the No 12 jersey, where he will partner Suleiman Hartzenberg in the Sharks midfield. It is a reshuffled combination that will need to deliver against a determined Munster side.
With Munster looking to turn their season around and the Sharks aiming to strengthen their position near the top of the standings, a fiercely contested encounter is expected.
