South African music executive and media personality Nota Baloyi has shared his version of how his romance with singer Berita Khumalo began, claiming that she was the one who approached him first.
Speaking during an appearance on the Not Sorry podcast, Nota reflected on his past relationship with the singer and revealed that he was not initially attracted to her when they first met.
His comments have once again brought attention to the former couple’s relationship, which ended in a highly publicised divorce.
Nota says Berita initiated their romance
During the podcast conversation, co-host Seemah asked Nota whether he believed he was the kind of man his former wife wanted.
In response, Nota claimed that Berita was responsible for initiating their relationship.
“She approached me, she came to me,” he said, adding that she had justified her approach by referencing Tina Turner.
Nota also admitted that he did not immediately feel attracted to Berita, despite having crossed paths with her several times before they became romantically involved.
According to him, their previous encounters included studio sessions and other social settings.
However, he said he was impressed by the confidence she displayed when approaching him.
“That is some serious game,” Nota remarked.
A marriage that ended in divorce
Nota Baloyi and Berita Khumalo tied the knot in 2020, but their marriage eventually came to an end.
The former couple finalised their divorce in 2024 after a difficult separation that attracted considerable public attention.
Their breakup was marked by public disagreements, with both parties making comments about their relationship on social media and during interviews.
Nota’s latest remarks offer another glimpse into his recollection of how their romance started, although they represent his account of events.
Nota opens up about his new girlfriend
The podcast discussion also touched on Nota’s current relationship with Thandolwethu Ndlangamandla, whom he previously introduced publicly on social media.
Their relationship has attracted attention online, with some social media users comparing Thandolwethu’s appearance to that of Berita.
Nota was also asked about the couple’s reported 15-year age difference and whether they connected despite the gap.
He responded positively, praising his girlfriend’s intelligence and ability to engage with him in conversation.
“Of course! She’s smart. She’s smart like me. She holds a conversation. She’s able to go toe to toe with me,” he said.
His comments have added another talking point to the ongoing public interest surrounding Nota’s relationships.
