Kaizer Chiefs could make further changes to their squad when the January transfer window opens, with former Amakhosi goalkeeper Brian Baloyi identifying Percy Tau and Thembinkosi Lorch as two experienced players who could strengthen the team.
The Soweto giants recently added Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana on a free transfer, but speculation continues over whether the club will make more signings during the second half of the season.
Baloyi believes Chiefs should consider bringing in established players who can contribute both on the pitch and inside the dressing room.
Brian Baloyi urges Chiefs to consider Percy Tau
Former Al Ahly attacker Percy Tau has been linked with a possible return to the PSL after becoming a free agent.
The 32-year-old has previously expressed interest in playing in South Africa again, with several local clubs mentioned as potential destinations.
Speaking to SoccerBeat, Baloyi argued that Tau still has plenty to offer and could bring valuable experience to the Chiefs squad.
“I think Percy Tau is available and still has a lot to give to the game. I think Chiefs need a player like him who has won everything, and he will bring that into the dressing room. He will bring the attitude, talent and professionalism,” Baloyi said.
The former Chiefs goalkeeper believes Tau’s experience at the highest level could help Amakhosi as they look to compete for major honours.
However, there is currently no confirmation that Chiefs have made an approach for the former Bafana Bafana international.
Thembinkosi Lorch also mentioned as a potential signing
Baloyi also identified Thembinkosi Lorch as another player Chiefs could consider ahead of the January transfer window.
The experienced winger has recently faced uncertainty surrounding his future in Libya, with reports suggesting that he could leave his current club in January.
Lorch has previously enjoyed success in South African football, particularly during his time at Orlando Pirates, where his creativity and attacking ability made him a popular figure among supporters.
A potential move to Naturena would be a significant development, given his history with Pirates.
However, like the speculation surrounding Tau, there is no official confirmation that Chiefs are negotiating a deal for Lorch.
Will Kaizer Chiefs strengthen their squad in January?
Baloyi believes the January transfer window presents an opportunity for Amakhosi to add quality and experience to their squad.
The club has already strengthened its attacking options with Mokwana’s arrival, but further recruitment could help Fernando da Cruz build a team capable of challenging consistently for trophies.
Whether Chiefs will pursue Tau, Lorch or other available players remains to be seen.
For now, both names are potential transfer targets raised by Baloyi rather than confirmed January signings.
Would Percy Tau and Thembinkosi Lorch be good additions to Kaizer Chiefs? Which player should Amakhosi prioritise in January?
