South African kwaito legend Kabelo “Bouga Luv” Mabalane is set to return to the live stage with two special performances of his For King & Country show at Teatro Montecasino in Johannesburg this December.

The concerts will take place on 15 and 16 December 2026, bringing together the artist’s celebrated musical catalogue, reimagined classics and new material inspired by his evolving journey of faith.

Announcing the shows in a video shared on X, Mabalane revealed that he would perform alongside a 16-piece live music ensemble. The production is presented in partnership with Kaya 959 and promises a fresh interpretation of the music that has shaped his career.

The upcoming performances will give audiences an opportunity to revisit Mabalane’s musical legacy while experiencing the direction of his latest creative chapter.

According to the announcement, the show will feature new music alongside reworked versions of familiar hits and other iconic songs associated with South African music.

With a full live ensemble, the production is expected to place a fresh musical emphasis on the artist’s catalogue, blending nostalgia with the sound and perspective that now define his work.

Mabalane shared his excitement about the announcement on X, confirming the December dates and his collaboration with Kaya 959.

Tickets for both performances are available through Webtickets.

A New Chapter for Bouga Luv

The For King & Country concerts mark another important moment in Mabalane’s long-running career. In recent years, he has devoted considerable attention to ministry, family, business and wellness advocacy, while continuing to explore his creative interests.

The live shows follow the release of his comeback single, For King and Country, which also shares its name with his forthcoming album.

The project introduces what Mabalane calls “Street Psalms” — an approach that brings his kwaito roots into conversation with contemporary worship, urban soul and other musical influences.

The concept reflects the different experiences that have shaped him, connecting his history in South African music with the faith and purpose that have become central to his life.

Celebrating Three Decades of South African Music

Mabalane’s return to the stage also provides an opportunity to celebrate a catalogue that has helped shape the country’s musical landscape.

As a founding member of TKZee, alongside Zwai Bala and the late Tokollo “Magesh” Tshabalala, Mabalane helped popularise a sound that became synonymous with an influential era in South African kwaito.

He later established a successful solo career, earning multi-platinum success and releasing music that remains part of the country’s musical heritage.

His career has extended beyond recording and performing. Mabalane has also appeared on major international stages, shared platforms associated with global stars and taken on endurance challenges, including the Comrades Marathon. His work as a pastor has added another dimension to his public journey.

What Can Fans Expect From the December Shows?

The For King & Country performances are set to combine live instrumentation, expansive arrangements and choral elements with music from different stages of Mabalane’s career.

The announcement also points to a special recognition moment during the concerts, adding another feature to the planned production.

For fans who grew up with TKZee and Mabalane’s solo hits, the shows offer a chance to reconnect with familiar music. For newer audiences, they provide an introduction to the artist’s evolving sound and the ideas behind his latest project.
