Football fans who cannot make it to FNB Stadium will be able to watch the much-anticipated Soweto Derby live on free-to-air television.
The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has confirmed that Saturday’s clash between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will be broadcast live on SABC 1.
The two Soweto giants meet on Saturday, 31 October 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 15:30 at FNB Stadium.
With bragging rights and valuable Betway Premiership points at stake, supporters can expect another fiercely contested chapter in one of South African football’s biggest rivalries.
Orlando Pirates enter the derby as favourites
Recent league form gives Orlando Pirates reason for confidence heading into the encounter.
Abdeslam Ouaddou’s team have collected seven victories and one draw from their opening eight Premiership matches. During that run, the Buccaneers have scored 18 goals and conceded just once.
Kaizer Chiefs, meanwhile, have also started the campaign without a league defeat. Fernando Da Cruz’s side have recorded three wins and five draws, scoring 13 goals and conceding eight.
Although both teams remain unbeaten, Pirates’ stronger winning record and impressive defensive statistics make them the form favourites.
However, Ouaddou has acknowledged that being favourites does not automatically guarantee victory. The Soweto Derby has a reputation for producing surprises, regardless of the teams’ positions or recent results.
Predicted starting line-ups
Both coaches will be hoping their players deliver when the pressure is at its highest. These are the predicted teams ahead of Saturday’s showdown.
