Kaizer Chiefs face Golden Arrows at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday as Amakhosi look to maintain their unbeaten Betway Premiership start.

Kaizer Chiefs will put their unbeaten start to the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season on the line when they travel to Mpumalanga to face Golden Arrows on Sunday.

The seventh-round clash is scheduled for Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, with kick-off set for 15:00 on Sunday, 20 September.

The fixture was initially expected to take place at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi before being moved to Mbombela.

Chiefs chasing another three points

Fernando da Cruz’s side enters the match in fourth place with 12 points from six matches.

The Glamour Boys have recorded three victories and three draws so far, meaning they remain one of the league’s unbeaten teams.

However, Chiefs will be looking to turn some of those draws into victories after being held to a 1-1 draw by Polokwane City in their previous league outing.

Lebohang Maboe gave Chiefs the lead with his second goal of the campaign, but Amakhosi were unable to hold on to all three points.

With the leading teams beginning to establish themselves at the top of the table, Chiefs know another dropped opportunity could make it harder to keep pace with the title contenders.

Golden Arrows looking to climb the table

Golden Arrows will have their own motivation heading into Sunday’s encounter.

Abafana Bes’thende currently sit seventh with seven points from six matches, having recorded just one victory so far this season.

They also drew 1-1 in their previous fixture, against Siwelele in Bloemfontein.

A victory over Chiefs would therefore provide a major boost to their campaign and could significantly improve their position on the league table.

Playing in Mbombela could also give the match a different dynamic, with both teams looking to make the most of the occasion.

A crucial test for both sides

For Chiefs, the objective is straightforward: maintain their unbeaten record while collecting maximum points.

For Golden Arrows, the priority is to find greater consistency and turn draws into victories.

The contrasting league positions make Chiefs the favourites on paper, but their inability to put games to bed could give Arrows confidence that they can cause an upset.

The match also gives Da Cruz another opportunity to assess his squad as Chiefs attempt to build momentum during the early stages of the season.
