Jessica Motaung has reportedly stepped down as Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director but will remain on the club's board.

Kaizer Chiefs could be heading towards a significant change in their leadership structure after reports emerged that Jessica Motaung has stepped down as the club’s Marketing and Commercial Director.

Motaung, who has been associated with the Soweto giants for nearly three decades, is reportedly leaving the influential executive position but will continue serving on the club’s board.

The development was reported on Thursday, 5 November 2026, by SABC Sport journalist Mazola Molefe, who indicated that Motaung had personally confirmed the decision.

Jessica Motaung steps away from Chiefs executive role

According to SABC Sport, Motaung has vacated her position as Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director while retaining her place on the club’s board.

The reported decision marks a major development at Naturena, considering the important role she has played in the club’s commercial and marketing operations over the years.

However, Kaizer Chiefs have not yet issued an official statement confirming her departure from the executive position.

For now, the reported change should be viewed as an update from SABC Sport rather than a formally announced club restructuring.

A career spanning almost three decades at Naturena

Motaung’s association with Kaizer Chiefs dates back to 1998, making her one of the club’s longest-serving figures.

She was appointed Marketing Manager in 2003 before being promoted to Marketing and Commercial Director in 2007.

During her time in the role, she became an important figure in the club’s commercial administration and represented Amakhosi in various football-related structures.

Her influence also extended beyond South African football.

In 2022, she joined the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Organising Committee for Women’s Football. The following year, she was elected Deputy Chairperson of the African Clubs Association.

Her involvement in these organisations further established her presence in football administration across the continent.

Who could replace Jessica Motaung at Kaizer Chiefs?

With Motaung reportedly stepping away from the Marketing and Commercial Director position, attention will now turn to who could take over the responsibilities.

Two names that could attract attention are Bobby Motaung and Kaizer Motaung Jr, both of whom serve on the Kaizer Chiefs board in different capacities.

However, there has been no official announcement identifying a successor.

It also remains unclear whether the club will appoint someone from within the Motaung family or consider an external candidate with commercial and football administration experience.

The decision could have important implications for the club’s future commercial direction.

Chiefs turn attention to Carling Knockout assignment

Away from the developments in the boardroom, Kaizer Chiefs are preparing for their Carling Knockout quarter-final encounter against Siwelele FC.

The fixture is scheduled for Sunday at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, with kick-off moved to 18:00 following a PSL scheduling adjustment.

Amakhosi will be hoping to secure a place in the semi-finals while developments surrounding the club’s leadership continue to attract attention.
