After one year behind the microphone, Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has announced his departure from Power 987, prompting a significant restructuring of the station’s daytime lineup.
Ndlozi, who joined the station to host the flagship Power Talk show on weekdays from 9:00 to 12:00, confirmed the news to listeners, noting that efforts to persuade him to stay were unsuccessful.
Mondli Makhanya Steps In
In a swift move, Power 987 has announced that veteran journalist and former City Press editor-in-chief, Mondli Makhanya, will take over the Power Talk reins effective March 2, 2026.
Ndlozi welcomed the seasoned journalist during Tuesday’s broadcast, wishing him well as he takes over the slot.
Given Mkhari, Executive Chairman of SHILUMANA Group, welcomed the appointment: “For POWER 987 audiences, this appointment is about bringing deeper insights, sharper interrogation, and power-packed analysis of South Africa’s political, economic and social realities.”
Ndlozi’s Next Chapter
Power 987 thanked Ndlozi for his contribution to the station following his departure from Parliament. Ndlozi will continue his media presence by hosting the African Renaissance Podcast for the Thabo Mbeki Foundation.
