Liverpool FC is coming to South Africa! Official standalone stores are opening at Canal Walk and Mall of Africa this May. See the dates, locations, and celebration details.

The “Reds” are officially touching down on South African soil. In a landmark move for the club’s global expansion, Liverpool FC has confirmed the opening of its first two standalone retail stores in Africa. This development brings the total number of official Liverpool outlets to 25 worldwide—the most of any sports team on the planet.

With an estimated 12.7 million supporters in South Africa, the country represents the club’s largest fan base outside of the UK, making this a highly anticipated arrival for the local faithful.

Store Locations and Opening Dates

Fans won’t have to wait long to get their hands on official kits and merchandise. The two new hubs are strategically located in the country’s premier shopping destinations:

  • Cape Town: Canal Walk Shopping Centre – Opening Tuesday, 12 May
  • Johannesburg: Mall of Africa – Opening Friday, 15 May

The “Reds in SA” Celebration: May 17–21

The store launches are just the beginning. Liverpool FC has curated a week-long festival of football to engage with the local community.

  • Legendary Presence: Former goalkeeper and Durban-born icon Bruce Grobbelaar is expected to headline the festivities.
  • Silverware on Display: Fans will have the rare opportunity to see the UEFA Champions League trophy in person.
  • Family Fun: Official club mascot Mighty Red will be making appearances, alongside various cultural and community events.
  • Official Launch Events: Dedicated supporter celebrations are scheduled for 19 May (Cape Town) and 21 May (Johannesburg).

A Global Milestone

Lee Dwerryhouse, Liverpool’s VP of Merchandising, noted that South Africa’s “deep and passionate” support made it the logical choice for the club’s first African retail footprint. With 37 million cumulative TV viewers in the region last season, the move bridges the gap between the fans in the stands and the club’s headquarters at Anfield.
