Watch the viral video of the Springboks singing in full voice ahead of their 2026 season-opener against the Barbarians, as Rassie Erasmus names an experimental backline.

The world champion Springboks are back, and the famous team culture is already operating at a historic high. As the green and gold machine gears up for their highly anticipated 2026 international season-opener against the legendary Barbarians this Saturday, a viral video has emerged showing the squad in full voice.

The spine-tingling footage captures a tight-knit group of Boks belting out a traditional rhythmic song as they marched out of the tunnel and onto the training paddock. It serves as yet another authentically South African, unifying moment that defines the unique spirit under captain Siya Kolisi.

Tactical Experimentation: Quan Horn Moves to Flyhalf

While the camp is in high spirits, head coach Rassie Erasmus is using this high-profile exhibition clash at Twickenham to test the depth of South Africa’s rugby systems.

The biggest talking point of the team selection is the sensational tactical shift of Lions star Quan Horn, who moves from his traditional fullback role to wear the No. 10 jersey.

BOK MIDFIELD & ATTACK ALIGNMENT (vs BARBARIANS)
Flyhalf: Quan Horn — Fluid transition from 15 to the pivot role
Inside Centre: Andre Esterhuizen — Imposing physical gainline presence
Outside Centre: Jesse Kriel — Defensive general anchoring the wide channel
Fullback (SA 'A'): Luan Giliomee — 19-year-old prodigy making massive waves

Powerhouse centre Andre Esterhuizen, who will lock down the midfield alongside regular partner Jesse Kriel, immediately backed Horn’s ability to pull the strings.

“He’s a very good player, has a lot of skill, and reads the game beautifully,” Esterhuizen noted. “He’s slotted into the No. 10 position very well at training and has been working incredibly hard. With the veteran support systems both inside and outside of him, he has all the guidance he needs to excel.”

SA “A” Ready to Explode in Gqeberha

Saturday isn’t just about the senior side. In a massive double-header for Mzansi rugby, the SA ‘A’ development squad will tackle a highly physical Zimbabwe outfit at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.

The spotlight is firmly trained on 19-year-old phenom Luan Giliomee. The young prodigy will incredibly run out for his third different national team setup in 2026, having already represented both the Junior Springboks and the Blitzboks this year. Giliomee gets the nod at fullback, eager to translate two weeks of intense first-team mentorship directly into a dominant performance.
