Award-winning actress, singer, and cultural visionary Nelisiwe Sibiya is on an unstoppable trajectory in 2026. The multi-talented star has successfully translated her artistic brilliance into corporate excellence after her heritage enterprise, Emandulo House of Culture and Heritage, clinched the first runner-up trophy in the fiercely competitive Crafters category at the Durban Tourism Business Awards on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.

Based in Durban, Emandulo House serves as an authentic cultural engine, providing traditional styling, professional cultural consultation, Master of Ceremonies (MC) services, and the hire and sale of premium, genuine imvunulo (traditional attire).

“My Third Award This Year”: An Emotional Entrepreneurial Milestone

Taking to Instagram to process the emotional milestone, the actress revealed that this marks her third major accolade of 2026 alone—but noted that this specific nod hit differently because it directly honors her self-made business baby.

Reflecting on her journey as a young, black female entrepreneur, Nelisiwe shared:

“‘Konke okudliwe isikhonyane kuzobuya kuphindiwe.’ Joel 2:25. When I tell you I am still in awe of God’s goodness, grace, and anointing in my life… This award from Durban Tourism hits so hard because it is for my dear baby Emandulo House. Winning this, being recognized as a young black female entrepreneur is such a blessing.”

She concluded her victory post with a powerful, unyielding vow to her heritage: “Lastly I say: As long as ngisaphila, isintu angeke size sife (As long as I live, our culture will never die).”

Built from the Ground Up with Zero Funding

Speaking later to Drum Magazine, Nelisiwe admitted she was completely caught off guard when her name was announced at the glittering gala, breaking down in tears at the venue.

“I was not expecting to win first runner-up. I still can’t believe it,” she confessed. “When I heard that I was one of the winners, I just lost it. I became so emotional because Emandulo House is my baby. It’s been so hard to start and run a business without any help or funding. Seeing it already win an award felt like a tap on the shoulder, telling me that I am moving in the right direction.”

With zero external backing or funding, the national recognition serves as the ultimate validation for the enterprise, setting a massive foundation for the future preservation of African identity.
