Portuguese giants FC Porto have reportedly agreed a €4m (R74m) deal with Orlando Pirates for winger Oswin Appollis following his brilliant World Cup displays.

The European exodus from Orlando Pirates is hitting absolute overdrive. Just as reports link Relebohile Mofokeng to Belgium, Portuguese giants FC Porto have reportedly launched a staggering €4 million (around R74 million) bid to sign sensational winger Oswin Appollis.

According to Portuguese outlet Radar da Liga, the Buccaneers have already accepted the lucrative proposal, paving the way for the 24-year-old attacking maestro to seal a dream move to Europe as early as this summer.

An Astronomical Return on Investment

Should the transfer cross the finish line, it represents an unbelievable piece of business for the Sea Robbers. Pirates signed Appollis from Polokwane City in July 2025 for R16 million—meaning his market value has nearly quintupled in just one spectacular season.

It also vindicates the club’s decision to reject a formal approach from MLS outfit Chicago Fire in 2025. Under the tactical guidance of coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, Appollis evolved into an unstoppable domestic force, blending his natural flair with elite defensive work rate to help Pirates secure a historic treble: the MTN8, the Carling Knockout, and a dramatic Betway Premiership title over Mamelodi Sundowns.

From Bishop Lavis to the World Stage

Appollis’s meteoric rise reached global proportions under Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, where he racked up an astonishing 16 goal contributions (8 goals, 8 assists) to fire South Africa to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The boy from Bishop Lavis didn’t blink on the world stage either, turning heads with brave performances against Mexico at the iconic Estadio Azteca, Czechia, and Canada.

Now, he looks destined to swap the famous black and white of Mayfair for the blue and white of Porto, entering the elite ranks of the UEFA Champions League regulars.
