The “Hustla” is human after all. South African hip-hop heavyweight Emtee has officially addressed the backlash following his performance in Pretoria on December 16, 2025. After fans took to social media to express disappointment over his low energy and lackluster stage presence, Emtee Records released a statement clarifying that the rapper was battling extreme fatigue and physical exhaustion.

The “Five-Show” Toll
According to the statement, the Pretoria set was the final stop in a grueling marathon. On Reconciliation Day alone, Emtee performed at five different venues across the country.
“Unfortunately, the demanding pace took its toll, and fatigue impacted his ability to deliver the high-energy show our fans expect in Pretoria,” the label stated.
While some fans were frustrated by the “low-vibe” set, the label defended the rapper’s work ethic, describing the back-to-back bookings as a testament to his dedication to his supporters during the busy summer “Festive Season.”

Making Amends
Emtee has personally expressed regret for falling short of his usual standards. To make it right, his team is reportedly in discussions with event organizers to arrange a follow-up performance or special appearance for the Pretoria fans who felt shortchanged.
