The Class of 2025: By the Numbers
The sheer scale of this year’s success highlights SU’s position as a powerhouse of African research and education:
- Total Qualifications: 10,160 (A new university record).
- Postgraduate Excellence: 5,282 total, including 349 PhDs and 1,650 Master’s degrees.
- The March Cohort: 3,600+ students receiving degrees across 11 ceremonies from 23–26 March.
End of an Era: The New Graduation Calendar
Graduands and families should note a significant structural change. The 2025 December series was the last of its kind. From 2027 onwards, SU will move to one single, extended graduation series held annually in March/April, consolidating the previous split-year format.
“A Stellenbosch University qualification reflects the knowledge, skills, and values you have developed… it prepares you to engage thoughtfully with a rapidly changing world.” — Prof. Deresh Ramjugernath, SU Rector and Vice-Chancellor.
