
The rebuilding phase under new head coach Fernando Da Cruz has officially shifted into high gear. Fresh off launching their highly anticipated 2026/27 home and away kits, Kaizer Chiefs have officially landed in the coastal city of Alicante, Spain, to begin a gruelling 10-day intensive training camp.
Stationed in a high-performance Mediterranean environment, Amakhosi are focused on integrating new signings, building elite tactical cohesion, and testing their squad depth against a variety of elite international playing styles.
The Spanish Tour Fixture List
Amakhosi will square off against three clubs from different footballing regions to fully measure their squad’s technical readiness:
- 12 July – Rangers FC (Scotland): The European tour fires into life with a heavy-duty, behind-closed-doors clash against the Scottish giants in Marbella.
- 15 July – Al Kholood (Saudi Pro League): The technical team will shift to the Pinatar Arena for a public fixture against the ambitious Saudi side.
- 18 July – Elche CF (Spain, La Liga): The Spanish tour wraps up with a massive test against top-flight European opposition, open to traveling supporters.
The Homecoming Layout: Toyota Cup & Domestic Launch
Upon concluding their intensive camp in the Iberian Peninsula, the Glamour Boys return straight to African soil to apply the final touches to their tactical systems:
- 26 July (Toyota Cup): A massive pre-season silverware opportunity against Zimbabwean powerhouse Scottland FC at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.
- 2 August (Lesotho Tour): A high-altitude developmental friendly against Lifofane FC at the Setsoto Stadium.
- 1 August (Betway Premiership Opener): The official league campaign kicks off on the road against newly promoted Kruger United, quickly followed by back-to-back home matches against Sekhukhune United and reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Squad Note: Striker Thabo Cele did not travel with the squad to Alicante, having learned late that he was excluded from Da Cruz’s traveling party, indicating immediate squad adjustments ahead of the dual challenges of the Betway Premiership and CAF Confederation Cup.
