The mass overhaul at Kaizer Chiefs is reaching beyond the playing squad, with two more notable departures confirmed at Naturena. The club has parted ways with one of their longest-serving medical staff members, while a highly-rated academy product has officially ended his nine-year stay with the Glamour Boys.
End of an Era: Head Massage Therapist Leaves After 13 Years
Head sports massage therapist Matthew Laubscher has officially brought down the curtain on his decade-long tenure with Amakhosi. Laubscher has been an absolute fixture in the first-team dressing room, treating club legends like Itumeleng Khune and working under numerous coaching regimes.
Taking to social media, Laubscher confirmed his exit:
“After 13 and a half years I have made the decision to part ways with Kaizer Chiefs! To have been able to work with the club has been an absolute privilege and one that I never took lightly.”
Towering Defender Sima Bobo Becomes a Free Agent
On the pitch, the talent drain from the Amakhosi academy structures continues. Towering 20-year-old defender Sima Bobo has officially cut ties with the club after nearly a decade in the youth ranks.
Bobo, who spent the last six months on loan in Botswana with Mochudi Chiefs, is now free to negotiate a permanent move to any club of his choice.
A Worrying Trend for the Amakhosi Academy?
Bobo’s departure highlights a growing concern for fans, as he joins a growing list of highly-rated youth prospects who have slipped through the cracks at Naturena recently:
- Omega Mdaka: Left the development ranks and has since found a home with Betway Premiership rivals Stellenbosch FC.
- Khulumani Ndamane: Departed for TS Galaxy before rapidly rising to earn the attention of Mamelodi Sundowns and a Bafana Bafana call-up.
With the new season rapidly approaching, management’s aggressive reshuffling of both the backroom staff and the youth roster shows no signs of slowing down.
