The first silverware of the new Betway Premiership season is officially on the line! Tournament organizers officially launched the 2026/27 MTN8 in Johannesburg on Wednesday, unveiling a massive R10 million cash prize for the ultimate champion.
Under this season’s tournament slogan, “There can only be ONE!”, fan engagement also takes center stage: the popular Last Fan Standing competition will award R1 million to one lucky supporter, while R20,000 will be donated to charity for every single goal scored throughout the tournament.
Orlando Pirates Chase Historic 5th Consecutive Title
Defending champions Orlando Pirates enter the competition aiming to make South African football history. Under head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, the Buccaneers—who defeated Stellenbosch FC 3-0 in last season’s final behind a Tshepang Moremi brace and Tshegofatso Mabasa strike—are aiming to become the first team ever to win five consecutive MTN8 titles.
