Freshly signed attacker Langelihle Phili has officially hit the training pitch at Kaizer Chiefs Village, and eagle-eyed supporters have already spotted what looks to be his new squad number.
The 21-year-old arrival from Stellenbosch FC was seen donning the No. 70 jersey during training at Naturena as Amakhosi prepare for their highly anticipated MTN8 quarter-final clash against Golden Arrows this Sunday, 9 August at FNB Stadium (19:00 EAT / 18:00 SAST).
Why No. 70?
Phili famously wore the No. 11 jersey during his breakout spell at Stellenbosch FC. However, with Luke Baartman currently occupying the No. 11 shirt at Naturena, the young star has opted for the unusual No. 70 as he opens a new chapter in Soweto.
His arrival comes off the back of a major multi-player deal between the two Betway Premiership clubs, which saw Ashley du Preez and Given Msimango head permanently to the Winelands in exchange for Phili’s signature.
Phili’s Career Stats at a Glance
Despite his young age, Phili brings solid top-flight experience and an impressive goal return from his time in the Western Cape:
- Career Appearances: 72 games across all competitions
- Career Goals & Assists: 11 goals, 2 assists
- 2025/26 Standout Season: 39 appearances and 9 goals overall (7 goals in 26 Premiership matches)
With a potential debut on the cards this Sunday evening, Amakhosi supporters will be eager to see if the dynamic young winger can carry his goalscoring form into the legendary Gold and Black jersey.
