Police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of former professional boxer Zolani Tete, who was shot dead in Mdantsane on Friday evening.
Tete, 38, popularly known as “Last Born”, was reportedly ambushed in NU 17 at around 18:30. A 27-year-old woman who was travelling with him was also wounded in the shooting.
Two suspects taken into custody
According to police, two men aged 30 and 22 were arrested in Ku Gompo on Saturday during an intelligence-led operation involving multiple law-enforcement units.
The suspects are being questioned in connection with Tete’s murder and the attempted murder of the woman who was with him.
Police have not disclosed a possible motive and have cautioned against speculation while investigators continue to gather evidence.
Authorities say several investigative leads are being pursued, and more arrests could follow.
