Dr Danny Jordaan has been re-elected as president of the South African Football Association (SAFA), defeating Sandile Zungu in Saturday’s closely watched elective congress.
The result brings an end to weeks of campaigning and confirms that Jordaan will continue at the helm of South African football after delegates backed him for another term.
According to SAFA, Jordaan secured 157 votes, while Zungu received 82 votes.
Jordaan Secures Clear Majority
The final numbers gave Jordaan a decisive victory over his challenger.
SAFA confirmed the outcome shortly after the vote, announcing that Dr Danny Jordaan had been re-elected as SAFA president.
The election had attracted significant attention, with Zungu campaigning on the prospect of change while Jordaan’s supporters pointed to his experience and years of leadership within South African football.
In the end, delegates opted to retain the incumbent.
