Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine has added another milestone to his growing list of achievements after reaching a landmark 100 victories for the club.
The goalkeeper reached the feat during Pirates’ 2-0 victory over Marumo Gallants at Orlando Amstel Arena, a result that kept the Buccaneers firmly in the PSL title race.
Kabelo Kgositsile and Nkosinathi Sibisi were on the scoresheet as Pirates closed the gap on leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to just one point.
With a game in hand, the Buccaneers have an opportunity to reclaim top spot if they secure maximum points from their outstanding fixture.
Chaine reaches 100 wins faster than any Pirates player
According to OptaJabu, Chaine’s victory over Gallants was his 100th competitive win since joining Orlando Pirates.
What makes the achievement particularly significant is the number of matches it took him to reach the landmark.
Chaine secured his 100th win in just 152 competitive appearances, making him the fastest Pirates player to reach a century of victories.
The goalkeeper has also produced impressive numbers during his time at the club, conceding 90 goals while recording 72 clean sheets across those 152 matches.
Deon Hotto and Lucky Lekgwathi behind Chaine
Chaine now sits ahead of several notable Pirates names on the list of players to reach 100 wins for the club.
Veteran winger Deon Hotto previously reached the milestone in his 186th official appearance for the Buccaneers in May 2025.
Former Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi took considerably longer to reach the same landmark, recording his 100th victory in his 213th official match in November 2010.
Chaine’s achievement therefore stands out not only because of the milestone itself, but also because of how quickly he reached it.
Pirates chasing PSL silverware
The record comes at an important stage of the season for Orlando Pirates.
The Buccaneers remain within touching distance of Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the standings, while their game in hand gives them another opportunity to move back to the summit.
For Chaine, reaching 100 victories adds another personal milestone to a campaign in which his performances have helped Pirates maintain their challenge at the top end of the PSL table.
The question now is whether another Pirates player can eventually match — or surpass — Chaine’s record of reaching 100 wins in just 152 matches.
