Maglera Doe Boy has made it clear that he would welcome the chance to put his bars alongside A-Reece, while offering an interesting take on the competitive nature of rap.
The Klerksdorp-born rapper recently responded to fans who questioned whether he would ever go bar-for-bar with A-Reece, turning the conversation into something potentially more exciting: a collaboration between two of South African hip-hop’s respected lyricists.
Maglera Doe Boy on competing with A-Reece
For Maglera, competition has always been part of what makes rap interesting.
Responding to the idea of a lyrical contest with A-Reece, he explained that the competitive element can bring excitement to hip-hop.
“With rap music, if it’s not like a contest sport, it’s boring,” Maglera said.
He then revealed the rapper he would most like to share that competitive energy with.
“And if there’s anyone that, like, quote-unquote, I would love to, hey, rap… Yeah, it would be A-Reece,” he added.
However, rather than suggesting that the two have any personal issues, Maglera quickly shifted the conversation towards collaboration.
“Chat, ask Reece why we don’t have a song yet,” he said.
Maglera and A-Reece: Competition or collaboration?
The comment is likely to fuel conversations among fans who have long wondered what a Maglera Doe Boy and A-Reece track could sound like.
Both rappers have established reputations for lyricism, making the prospect of them sharing a song particularly intriguing for South African hip-hop listeners.
Maglera has previously pushed back against comparisons that frame his relationship with A-Reece as one of rivalry or personal tension.
Instead, he has acknowledged A-Reece’s ability while maintaining that artists can follow their own paths and still excel.
His latest remarks appear to follow that same approach.
Rather than calling for a rap beef, Maglera seems more interested in seeing what happens when two respected lyricists put their skills together on a record.
Fans put A-Reece on the spot
Maglera’s “ask Reece” comment effectively puts the ball in A-Reece’s court.
For fans, the idea of a collaboration could be more appealing than a traditional rap battle, particularly given the creative styles and lyrical reputations associated with both artists.
There is currently no confirmation that the two rappers are working on a song.
Still, Maglera’s willingness to collaborate has given fans something new to debate — and perhaps a reason to start asking A-Reece the same question.
Would you rather hear Maglera Doe Boy and A-Reece collaborate or go bar-for-bar in a rap battle?
