JOHANNESBURG — Reigning PSL champions Orlando Pirates have set a major milestone off the pitch by becoming the first Premier Soccer League club to open a permanent, standalone flagship retail store inside a major shopping center.
The Buccaneers officially unveiled the retail venue at the Mall of Africa in Midrand on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.
Moving away from the traditional model of relying on third-party retailers or matchday kiosks, the Soweto giants now operate their own retail footprint alongside leading global lifestyle and fashion brands.
VIP Opening & Store Features
The store was officially opened during a private VIP launch led by Orlando Pirates director Mpumelelo “Mpumi” Khoza. The ceremony was attended by club captain Nkosinathi Sibisi alongside former captain Happy Jele, Lucky Lekgwathi, and Brighton Mhlongo.
What Supporters Can Expect:
- 2026/27 Official Gear: Full stock of the newly released adidas home, away, and training wear.
- Kit Personalization: Dedicated shirt-printing stations for custom names and numbers.
- Lifestyle Apparel: Exclusive club-branded leisurewear and merchandise lines.
- Heritage Displays: Dedicated museum-style installations celebrating the club’s history.
Expanding the Commercial Footprint
The retail store opening represents another step in Orlando Pirates’ commercial modernization under Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza, joining recent sponsorship partnerships with Suzuki South Africa and Amstel Lager.
The retail launch comes just days before the Buccaneers begin their Betway Premiership title defense against Milford FC under new head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.
