Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly parting ways with former captain Given Msimango in a deal involving Stellenbosch FC. Read the latest transfer updates.

The squad overhaul at Naturena continues to take dramatic turns! Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Given Msimango is reportedly set to part ways with the club as head coach Fernando Da Cruz reshapes his squad ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.

According to SABC Sport, the 27-year-old centre-back was offered to Stellenbosch FC alongside Ashley Du Preez and a cash sum to secure the signing of highly rated winger Langelihle Phili. While Du Preez has already departed, Msimango’s exit appears increasingly imminent.

Msimango’s Journey at Naturena

  • Arrival & Leadership: Signed in 2023 under Cavin Johnson and immediately entrusted with the captain’s armband.
  • Injury Setbacks: Injuries and tactical shifts under previous head coach Nasreddine Nabi saw him drop down the pecking order.
  • Late Resurgence: Step-up performances towards the end of the 2025/26 season helped stabilize the backline after Zitha Kwinika suffered an injury.
  • The Numbers: Made 53 appearances in total for Amakhosi, including 13 Betway Premiership outings last season.

Despite joining the club on their recent pre-season tour of Spain, Msimango does not feature in Da Cruz’s long-term tactical plans, especially following the defensive arrival of Thabo Moloisane.

Amakhosi Focus Shift: Season Opener

As transfer talks continue behind the scenes, Kaizer Chiefs kick off their official 2026/27 campaign this Saturday evening against newly promoted Kruger United at Mbombela Stadium.
