Ngcobo’s Chiefs future under the spotlight
While Chiefs prepare for Siwelele, questions continue to surround Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.
The attacking midfielder has struggled for regular involvement and goals in recent seasons. Since scoring twice in the 2020/21 campaign, he has failed to score more than two goals in a single season and has managed just two Betway Premiership goals across the last three campaigns combined.
Ngcobo has made 129 senior appearances for Chiefs, scoring eight goals and providing three assists since joining the first team from the club’s academy in 2017.
The 26-year-old started the season by featuring in Chiefs’ opening two matches, but he has since fallen down the pecking order. He was an unused substitute against Mamelodi Sundowns and was not included in the matchday squads for the games against Richards Bay and Sekhukhune United.
With competition for places increasing, the upcoming weeks could prove important for Ngcobo as he looks to revive his Chiefs career.
