Lasizwe Dambuza has opened up about his unforgettable run on The Masked Singer South Africa, revealing what it was like to hide his identity while also addressing the much-discussed sale of his Bryanston townhouse.
The YouTube star was recently unmasked as Sushi during the third season of the SABC 2 show after surviving nine weeks of competition.
Lasizwe reveals all about Masked Singer SA
Lasizwe admitted that keeping his participation secret was one of the hardest parts of the experience.
As someone who regularly shares his life with his followers, disappearing from the public eye without explaining where he was proved challenging.
Performing was another experience altogether. Lasizwe joked that he was more comfortable rapping than singing, but the anonymity provided by the Sushi costume gave him an unusual sense of freedom.
“Under a mask… people actually don’t know who you are,” he explained, saying the experience allowed him to do things he might normally avoid because of public scrutiny.
His clues kept the panel guessing for weeks, with references to a “national hero”, Japan, football, content creation and an R10 campaign.
In the end, Somizi Mhlongo was the only detective to correctly identify Lasizwe as Sushi.
Lasizwe ultimately found himself in the Danger Zone alongside Gogga and was eliminated after performing Babes Wodumo’s ‘Umngan’wami’.
‘Yes, I am selling a house’
The media personality also addressed reports that his Bryanston home is on the market.
Lasizwe confirmed that he is selling the property and pushed back against the drama surrounding the decision, pointing out that buying and selling homes is a normal part of the property market.
The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom townhouse is reportedly listed for R3.8 million and measures approximately 213 square metres.
The property includes a study, private garden and smart-home automation with voice and app controls. It is also situated in a secure complex with 24-hour security.
For Lasizwe, the property sale comes as he enters what he describes as a more confident and outspoken chapter of his life.
After another major public chapter with The Masked Singer SA, the content creator appears ready to embrace whatever comes next.
