South African rapper Reason says his new album is done. The final piece fell into place when Kwesta sent over the verse the rapper had been chasing for days.
The Announcement
Reason, who also performs as Sizwe Alakine, took to X to share the news. Alongside a screenshot of a WhatsApp message showing a 34.2 MB WAV file named “kwesta reason.wav,” he said he had just received Kwesta’s verse and that the album was officially done. The project is titled Everything Happens For A Reason.
From Public Plea to Finished Album
The news comes only days after Reason asked fans for help getting Kwesta’s attention. On 30 September, he posted that he needed the verse to wrap up the album. Within a few days, the plea had paid off.
A Reunion Years in the Making
Reason and Kwesta have worked together before, most notably on “O Suna Mang” from Reason’s 2018 album Azania. The new collaboration reunites two of South African hip-hop’s most respected voices.
An Album Between Sounds
Reason built his name on introspective lyricism and projects like Audio High Definition and Azania, while his Sizwe Alakine persona has let him explore amapiano and other contemporary sounds. The title suits an artist whose career has moved between identities. He has also teased that this could be “the best Reason album ever.”
What’s Next
No release date has been announced yet. With the album now complete, fans can expect it to arrive soon.
