YoungstaCPT has returned to the streets that shaped his identity with the official music video for “WILDBERG,” the opening track from his latest mixtape, Worldwide Wynberg.
Released on 14 September 2026, the visual was filmed entirely in Wynberg, Cape Town, bringing the rapper’s hometown into sharp focus. Rather than constructing an elaborate world for the video, YoungstaCPT keeps the camera close to the places, people and everyday moments that are part of his personal history.
A Personal Look at Wynberg
YoungstaCPT, born Riyadh Roberts, uses “WILDBERG” to tell a story that extends beyond music. The video features familiar neighbourhood locations, including streets, parks and backyards, while local residents share memories of the artist’s childhood.
Some community members recall seeing him freestyle in the park when he was younger, while others reflect on his growth and the role his music has played in bringing attention to Wynberg.
Their stories add a personal dimension to the visual, turning it into more than a conventional music video. It becomes a portrait of a community seen through the eyes of someone who experienced it firsthand.
YoungstaCPT Reflects on His Roots
Sonically, “WILDBERG” combines elements of Cape hip-hop and reggae, with Crosby Bolani adding a reggae-infused presence reminiscent of Junior Reid.
YoungstaCPT uses the track to revisit different chapters of his upbringing, including the contrast between church life and the realities of street culture.
He also reflects on the hustles he took on while growing up and the experiences that helped him contribute towards his education. Themes of trauma and survival add further weight to the song.
The title itself carries an additional layer of meaning through the W-I-L-D-B-E-R-G acronym, reinforcing the track’s connection to the neighbourhood and the experiences explored throughout the song.
A Stripped-Back Sound
Production comes from Cartune Beatz, with sparse drums and a heavy, atmospheric backdrop designed to leave plenty of space for YoungstaCPT’s storytelling.
That restraint extends to the visual direction. Director of photography MAES, also known as Dillon Lee, and the Y?GEN team capture Wynberg without turning it into a glossy backdrop.
Instead, the camera focuses on real surroundings and familiar faces, keeping the emphasis on YoungstaCPT’s story and the community around him.
Worldwide Wynberg
“WILDBERG” serves as the introduction to Worldwide Wynberg, which was released at the end of July and represents YoungstaCPT’s 36th project and his first full-length release of 2026.
The mixtape explores Wynberg and neighbouring Wittebome, drawing from YoungstaCPT’s personal experiences and presenting the areas through both their difficult realities and their role as places of belonging.
The project includes appearances from DJ Ready D, Nym Lo and Omari Hardwick, among others, but its central focus remains on the people, places and experiences that have influenced YoungstaCPT’s journey.
The “WILDBERG” video continues that mission.
Rather than simply using Wynberg as a setting, YoungstaCPT turns the neighbourhood into part of the story — documenting the streets, voices and memories that helped shape the artist behind the music.
