Bafana Bafana have officially assembled in Johannesburg as Pitso Mosimane begins his second spell in charge of the national team.
Mosimane was appointed as Hugo Broos’ successor on a four-year contract and has now gathered his first squad ahead of a busy international window.
A total of 30 players have been selected for a run of three matches spanning September and October, with Bafana preparing for two AFCON 2027 qualifiers before an international friendly against Egypt.
Mosimane Begins Work With Bafana Squad
Following the conclusion of the weekend’s Betway Premiership fixtures, the selected players began reporting for national-team duty.
Not everyone had arrived at the time of the initial camp announcement, with several players based overseas expected to join the group later.
For Mosimane, the camp represents the beginning of his latest chapter with Bafana Bafana and his first opportunity to work directly with the squad since returning to the national-team setup.
The selection contains plenty of familiar faces from the Broos era, alongside players looking to establish themselves under the new coach.
Guinea First Up for Bafana
South Africa’s first assignment will be against Guinea on Saturday, 26 September at Orlando Stadium.
The match will be followed by a trip to Egypt, where Bafana will face Eritrea on 30 September.
The international window will then conclude with a friendly against Egypt on 4 October.
The three fixtures will give Mosimane an early opportunity to assess his squad and begin implementing his ideas ahead of the longer-term AFCON qualifying campaign.

A New Chapter for Bafana
The upcoming fixtures will provide an early look at how Mosimane plans to shape Bafana Bafana after taking over from Broos.
