The stage is set for another blockbuster MTN8 final, with the Premier Soccer League confirming that tickets for the showdown between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have sold out.
The two South African giants will meet at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 10 October, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00.
The sold-out status adds another layer of anticipation to a final that already carries plenty of history.
Pirates and Sundowns return to familiar territory
The MTN8 final will be a repeat of the 2023 decider, when Pirates and Sundowns also met at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Sundowns will be hoping for a different outcome this time after losing that final to the Buccaneers.
The Brazilians have reached the MTN8 final at the Durban venue twice previously. They lifted the trophy there against Cape Town City in 2021 before falling to Pirates two years later.
Pirates, meanwhile, have enjoyed their own success at the stadium, winning three of their seven MTN8 finals there in 90 minutes.
Another major final for Moses Mabhida
The 2026 showdown will mark the 11th MTN8 final hosted by Moses Mabhida Stadium, underlining the venue’s long association with the competition.
The stadium has a standard seating capacity of 56,000, although the number of spectators permitted for the final may differ from the stadium’s full capacity.
With tickets now sold out, supporters will be heading to Durban expecting another memorable chapter in the Pirates-Sundowns rivalry.
For Sundowns, it is an opportunity to put the disappointment of 2023 behind them. For Pirates, another victory would add to their strong record in MTN8 finals at Moses Mabhida.
