Bobby Motaung has defended Fernando Da Cruz amid Kaizer Chiefs criticism, praising the coach's professionalism, tactical preparation and long working hours at Naturena.

Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager Bobby Motaung has come out in defence of head coach Fernando Da Cruz, insisting that the Frenchman is a high-level tactician whose work behind the scenes deserves recognition.

Da Cruz has come under increasing scrutiny following an inconsistent start at Naturena, with supporters questioning his tactical approach, team selections and the club’s overall performances.

However, Motaung appears convinced that Chiefs have the right man in charge and believes the coach needs time to implement his ideas.

Speaking on Marawa Sports Worldwide, the Chiefs football manager expressed satisfaction with Da Cruz’s leadership, professionalism and ability to maintain discipline within the dressing room.

“I’m happy,” Motaung said.

He further emphasised that the French coach has established authority among the players and is firmly in control of the dressing room.

“My coach owns the change room, controls the change room. If you hear how people are fired in other clubs or whatever, we’re not in a circus game,” he explained.

Motaung Insists Kaizer Chiefs Have a High-Level Technical Team

Beyond dressing-room management, Motaung highlighted the technical work taking place behind the scenes.

He pointed to the team’s structure, tactical preparation and attention to detail as evidence that the coaching department is operating at a high professional level.

According to Motaung, the challenge is not necessarily the quality of the technical team but the patience required to build a successful side.

He also acknowledged that injuries have affected the team’s progress.

Da Cruz has gone unbeaten in his first eight Betway Premiership matches, collecting three victories and five draws.

Nevertheless, Chiefs’ elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary qualifiers has intensified questions about the team’s progress.

Supporters, pundits and former club figures have also expressed concerns about the defensive organisation, performances and player selections.

Despite the criticism, Motaung remains firmly behind the Frenchman.

“What I think without dwelling into it, this is a high-level coach that we’ve got, technical staff professional, high level,” he added.

Bobby Motaung Reveals How Long Kaizer Chiefs Coaches Work at Naturena

One of the most interesting aspects of Motaung’s interview was his revelation about the working hours of the technical team.

The Chiefs football manager highlighted the time coaches spend at Naturena, preparing training sessions, analysing performances and planning for upcoming matches.

He also contrasted their working schedules with what he described as the habits of some local coaches.

“I can tell you about local coaches who come in at 9 o’clock, 11 o’clock at the village. We’ve got a facility there that’s got Sports Science, it’s got everything. These coaches leave at 5 o’clock, 6 o’clock, working on that, planning and looking at everything,” Motaung said.

His comments underline the importance Chiefs place on professional preparation, sports science, tactical analysis and making full use of the club’s training facilities.

Will Fernando Da Cruz Silence His Critics at Kaizer Chiefs?

While Motaung’s comments demonstrate the management’s confidence in Da Cruz, the pressure to deliver positive results remains.

Kaizer Chiefs supporters want more than promises of hard work and professionalism. They want consistent performances, victories and a team capable of challenging for major honours.

The coach appears to have the backing of the club’s leadership, but the real test will be whether his long hours at Naturena translate into improved performances on the pitch.
