The South African music industry was left in shock earlier this month when hosts of the Piano Pulse podcast targeted Thatohatsi with offensive remarks about her physical appearance. The incident sparked a massive “Protect Thatohatsi” movement across TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), led by fans and industry peers who condemned the toxic culture of digital bullying.
A Message of Healing
On Sunday, January 18, 2026, the vocalist re-emerged with a series of emotional Instagram Stories. She admitted that the weight of the support she received was the only thing that gave her the strength to return to the public eye.
“I would like to thank each and every one who has been so supportive of me. I read your messages, comments, and videos… Ngyabonga ngok’khulu ukuy’thoba (Thank you very much),” she wrote.
Reflecting on the dark days following the podcast episode, she described the outpouring of kindness as life-saving. “Without God and you guys, I don’t think I would’ve gained so much strength to come back and be myself again. Uthando eningiphe lona (The love you gave me) felt like a huge hug filled with love and care.”
Forgiveness Over Feud
While many fans are still calling for accountability from the podcasters, Thatohatsi chose a path of grace. She concluded her return by urging her followers to embrace compassion rather than anger.
“This message is out of love… Let’s continue from where we left off and forgive,” she stated, signaling her readiness to return to the studio and focus on her music.
