The South African music landscape has a new contender as Thuli Phongolo (Thuli P) officially unveils her debut musical project, Avana. While fans are buzzing over her transition into the recording booth, industry heavyweight Reason (affectionately known in the Amapiano space as Sizwe Alakine) has stepped forward to reveal his pivotal role in the project’s creation.

A Masterclass in Collaboration
Reason took to social media to pen a heartfelt tribute to Thuli P, revealing that his involvement went far beyond a simple “shout-out.” The rapper served as both Co-Producer and A&R (Artists and Repertoire) for the EP, working alongside Sean Cooldad to shape Thuli’s sonic identity.
“Congratulations mama!!! You finally did it!!!!” Reason shared. “It’s been such a pleasure to co-produce and A&R this project with you. The countless hours we poured into perfecting every detail truly paid off.”
From the Decks to the Mic
While Thuli P has long been a force in the DJing world and a household name in acting, Avana marks her most personal milestone yet. Reason’s praise highlighted the “amazing musical journey” and the collaborative effort of various producers and creators who helped refine her unique voice for a highly competitive market.
The rapper also dropped a major teaser for the future, hinting that Thuli’s vocal journey is only just beginning: “P.s. You’re singing on the next project,” he added, suggesting that more collaborations between the two are already in the works.
