The South African hip-hop scene is heating up as Blxckie and DJ Speedsta reignite their long-standing rivalry. What started as a musical critique has quickly devolved into a high-stakes social media spat, leaving fans divided and industry figures scrambling to mediate.
The friction began following the release of Blxckie’s latest track, “Trappin” featuring K1llbrady, which Speedsta was quick to dismiss.
The Spark: “Crazy Business”
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), DJ Speedsta didn’t mince words when comparing Blxckie’s new release to his own upcoming projects. The veteran DJ suggested that the rapper’s timing was a tactical error.
“Good Morning! Dropping an average Trap song on the same day The Big Boss drop his deluxe is crazy business! Just an opinion!” Speedsta posted.
The Clapback: AI Images and “Foul Language”
Blxckie, known for his “Somyama” persona and relentless work ethic, responded with a mix of humor and hostility. The rapper posted a mocking, AI-generated image of Speedsta, effectively escalating the tension and signaling that he wouldn’t be taking the “average” label lying down.
The exchange grew so heated that it drew a response from Nota Baloyi, who attempted to play peacemaker while simultaneously urging Blxckie to maintain his composure.
