Broos Stands Firm on Team Selection
Despite the congested schedule facing Mamelodi Sundowns players in the CAF Champions League, head coach Hugo Broos has made it clear that his priority is the national team’s World Cup readiness.
Responding to concerns about player fatigue, Broos was characteristically blunt:
“No, there will be no changes [to the squad]… I know Sundowns players have an overloaded program next week, but that’s not my problem. I have to prepare for the World Cup. Sundowns have 35 players; they can rotate.”
Predicted Lineup Shuffles
While the core squad remains, tactical tweaks are expected. In the midfield, Thalente Mbatha or Jayden Adams could step in for Sphephelo Sithole to provide fresh legs.
Defensively, the return of 20-year-old Ime Okon—who missed the Friday clash—could see him paired with either Mbekezeli Mbokazi or the experienced Nkosinathi Sibisi. All eyes will also be on whether the veteran Themba Zwane or the exciting youngster Relebohile Mofokeng gets the nod to lead the creative charge.
