Pitso Mosimane has officially applied to become the next Bafana Bafana manager. SAFA confirms receiving his CV alongside 80 other coaching candidates.

South African football could be on the verge of a blockbuster homecoming. The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed that tactical mastermind Pitso Mosimane has officially thrown his hat into the ring to become the next Bafana Bafana head coach.

While current manager Hugo Broos recently admitted he is suddenly weighing his retirement options following Sunday’s heartbreaking 1-0 World Cup exit to Canada, SAFA is taking no chances. The federation has already begun aggressively preparing for the future—and Mosimane is leading a star-studded list of contenders.

SAFA Confirms: “I Have Pitso’s CV With Me”

Speaking from Monterrey, Mexico, SAFA Technical Committee Chairman Jack Maluleke dropped the bombshell, confirming that “Jingles” is one of more than 80 applicants looking to take the reins of the national team.

“I can confirm that amongst the many top names of coaches who have applied for the Bafana Bafana job is indeed Pitso Mosimane. I have his CV with me,” Maluleke revealed. “We all know the passion of coach Pitso, his love for the country, and what his profile looks like. But he will also go through the interview process like everyone else.”

Despite Mosimane’s legendary status, SAFA insists there will be no shortcuts. The former Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, and Esteghlal mentor will face rigorous screening alongside dozens of elite international candidates.

Race Against Time for AFCON Qualifiers

SAFA’s leadership wants a seamless transition. The federation plans to fast-track and finalize the interview process immediately upon returning to South Africa from North America.

The clock is ticking loudly: the newly appointed manager will have virtually no time to settle, with the crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers kicking off this coming September. SAFA’s primary mandate is to hire a tactician capable of hitting the ground running to maintain the competitive momentum built during the Hugo Broos era.

If Broos officially steps aside, the stage is perfectly set for Mosimane to potentially return and finish what he started with the national team.
