Limpopo paid its final respects to popular Lekompo artist Molimisi Baaitsi, widely known as Dr Nel, who was laid to rest yesterday, November 8, 2025, at his home in Botshabelo Village, Limpopo.

The funeral followed the tragic discovery of the artist’s lifeless body on the side of the road in Botshabelo during the early hours of Sunday, October 31. Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed that the Tshomi Tsaka producer was found lying face down on the roadside after police received a report around 4 am.

“He was certified dead on the scene… Preliminary information revealed that the deceased was last seen performing during the grand opening of a local pub earlier that morning.”

During the service, Premier Ramathuba made a heartfelt request for mourners to pray for fellow artist Melita “Kharishma” Mogale. Kharishma is currently hospitalized and fighting for her life following a fatal accident that claimed the life of her driver and friend, Vincent Maphopha. The accident occurred while they were returning from a gig in Polokwane.

“May she recover, get out of that hospital bed and continue to entertain us,” Dr. Ramathuba said, urging prayers for Kharishma following her operation.

The Premier added that the province is in daily communication with Kharishma’s family and medical staff, emphasizing that the artist is “in the hands of medical specialists.” She concluded by calling for unity among the youth and asking for privacy for both bereaved families, stating, “We hope that young people will be safe this festive season on the roads.”

The burial was attended by community members and a handful of artists, including choreographer Limpopo Boy and Mphoza Mashabela, who offered a farewell performance.
