South African kwaito legend Kabelo Mabalane has officially revealed the artwork and full tracklist for his upcoming solo album, For King and Country, setting the stage for its release on Friday, 30 October 2026.

The announcement marks an important moment in Kabelo’s career as he prepares to release his 10th solo album and return with a full-length project after more than a decade. The veteran musician shared the artwork and tracklist on Monday, accompanied by a short but confident message: “Still standing. Artwork for solo album number 10 is here. Album out October 30th.”

Kabelo’s ‘For King and Country’ Album Blends Music, Culture and Faith

The newly unveiled cover artwork offers a creative glimpse into the themes behind For King and Country. Featuring an illustrated portrait of Kabelo against a black background, the design incorporates colourful faces, musical elements, expressive hands and symbolic objects.

The artwork reflects the different influences that have shaped his journey, including his musical roots, cultural identity and spiritual beliefs. The album’s title and visual presentation also hint at the personal nature of the project.

Kabelo has described his sound as “Street Psalms”, a style that brings together his kwaito foundation with gospel influences, live instrumentation and contemporary soul.

‘Magesh is Beethoven’ Pays Tribute to Tokollo Tshabalala

One of the standout titles on the tracklist is “Magesh is Beethoven”, a tribute to Kabelo’s late TKZee bandmate, Tokollo “Magesh” Tshabalala.

The song carries added significance as the album’s release date was moved to 30 October to make room for the celebration of Magesh’s 50th heavenly birthday earlier in the month.

The tribute connects Kabelo’s latest work to the legacy of TKZee, the influential group that helped shape South African kwaito. It also brings a personal dimension to an album that looks back on the experiences and relationships that have influenced his life and career.

Kabelo Celebrates 30 Years in Music

The release of For King and Country arrives as Kabelo celebrates 30 years in the music industry. Over three decades, he has built a career spanning kwaito, performance and his work as a pastor, establishing himself as a familiar figure in South African popular culture.

The album represents another chapter in that journey, bringing together elements of his musical past and his current creative and spiritual outlook.

Kabelo is also preparing to bring the project to the stage through two performances at Teatro Montecasino on 15 and 16 December 2026. Accompanied by a 16-piece ensemble, he is expected to perform songs from the new album alongside reimagined versions of classics from his catalogue.

The shows are being presented in partnership with Kaya 959.

‘For King and Country’ Arrives on 30 October

With the official artwork and tracklist now revealed, attention turns to the album’s release this Friday. The 12-track project promises a personal musical statement shaped by Kabelo’s kwaito roots, faith, cultural experiences and enduring connection to South African music.

For longtime fans, the album also offers an opportunity to reconnect with an artist whose career has evolved across generations.

As Kabelo prepares to celebrate three decades in the industry, For King and Country signals that his musical journey is far from over.
