The South African entertainment community is reeling from the tragic news that popular DJ and nightlife personality, Warrick Stock, widely known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed on Tuesday, December 16, in the Johannesburg central business district (CBD).
The incident occurred at the Carlton Centre shortly after the 40-year-old was reported to have parked his vehicle. According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the victim was approached by three unknown suspects who opened fire before escaping the scene on foot.

Industry Mourns Beloved Personality
The news was confirmed by businessman Rob Hersov in an emotional video shared online, where he expressed profound shock and grief over the loss of his friend.
Hersov paid a heartfelt tribute to the late DJ, describing him as: “the most loving, compassionate, friendly, honest, open, and decent human being, and it is a tragedy beyond belief.” He concluded his message with, “Warras, we love you. We miss you. May you rest in peace.”
Police Investigation Underway
SAPS confirmed the fatality, noting that a 40-year-old man was killed but that “The motive for the shooting is currently unknown.” Authorities have stated that no arrests have been made and that investigations are continuing.
Born and raised in Durban, DJ Warras was a familiar and respected figure across South African media. He launched his career at YFM in 2008, later becoming well-known through his daytime radio slot, Prime Mode, before transitioning into a successful role as a radio DJ and television presenter.
